Air conditioner
Kaput! my cozy office -
inhabitable.

Ninety-nine degrees
climbing – must leave now! or in
body boat for one.

Hi everyone! *wave* Unfortunately, we were on the inside edge of a tornado that tore through Bluemont and been days without electricity. [The DC metropolitan area was paralyzed. Traffic was at a stand-still with many huge trees down across roads, trees fallen slicing through houses. Sadly, we had one death from the storm. Lots of people saying emergency response was so disorganized, and area was unprepared. Hate to think of reaction to a major catastrophe.] My office is in the loft; until my air conditioner is replaced this coming weekend, I’ll be posting sporadically. I’ve almost killed myself several times up here from heat exhaustion making calls to power company, family, etc. My office phone is the only one in the house that is sometimes operable in power outages. We spent several hours outside in lawn chairs last night because it was unbearable inside. It was cooler outside but also damp and windy. Hoarse with sore throat today. I hope none of you are going through similar experience. The weather has been down-right wicked lately. My prayers go out to those hurting!

  1. hope things get back to normal soon. loved the dog pic and .

Lost electricity last night. Do you see a pattern? Things will get back to normal around here when it cools off and storms take off for Siberia, Scot..:) The puppy pic just kills me. Love it!

  2. Hi I love your name

Hi, thank you, Nefri, and welcome to Poetmeister! Confused as to whether you mean my name or my blog’s name. lol Please leave a link back to your place so I can come visit, ok? By the way, if you want your name to be a live link, just go to your Profile page and under the “Contact Info” section, under the E-mail box, in the Website box type your website URL and your name will be a link back to your blog. Voila! Again, thanks for stopping by!

  3. Great dog photo, hoping you are all up and fine again soon. Hugs, J

Hi Jo *wave* and thanks for your good wishes. I didn’t go to bed last night and it’s 6am and still a bit cooler up here in my office (loft) so I’m taking advantage of this window to say hi to everyone. Sorry for being absent lately. I’ll get by your place soon. Hope all is well for you, too. And, a hug backatcha..:)

  4. Wow, you soar through catastrophe like a pro, dear lady. We wondered why this blog was oddly silent for days and days. Usually you are so prolific, out there on dozens of our sites, gracing us with your presence, and leaving your comments about like seeds of wisdom, philosophy, and poetry.

Many of us are still endeavoring to visualize your “earth home”, buried in a hillock. How does it have a loft, for instance? Does some of it poke out of the grass roof? Do you have a generator for emergencies? I want to repeat a haiku I left elsewhere the other day.

    Do not quote the Buddha,
    be the Buddha,
    be the enlightened one.

I must say, Janet, you are certainly living in the Now, in the moment, in the eye of nature. Nature Girl, that’s you. So nice to have you surface and give your fans a wave, like the prom queen, like the gals who hung out of the back of those 50’s convertibles, like the pretty girl you pass in the park, and she knows you are checking her out.

I have now reposted almost ALL of your poetry on FFTR. I love it all, in its entire, the width and breadth and depth of your emotion, your intellect, your spirituality. When you regain your electricity, and have a breather, go out there and see what i have done with your wonderful stuff. I have made contact with Rick Mobbs too–what a talent, he is, and have been actively using many of his wonderful, frightening and fabulous paintings to illustrate stuff.

    Glenn

Hi Glenn *wave* and thank you so much for all the great work you’re doing on your blog! It looks super and it reads like a great book! I have so many blogs to catch up on.. I get frustrated when I can’t spend much time online. I went back to look for a few comments of yours I wanted to respond to and can’t find them right now. One in particular is where you mention my fibromyalgia and your own DD. Wow. You must have some similar things to deal with as I do. Do you have problems with concentration, fatigue, and cognitive deficits? If you do, I can really relate and I’m impressed with how much you can do inspite of your limitations. You’re such an inspiration, Glenn. I have a real problem with the heat and have been dragging lately and just don’t have the energy to do much at all because of the heat wave we’re having, plus the damp and humid weather during the wicked storms we’ve been having. Man, I’m so glad we don’t have huge trees anywhere near the house where they could fall on it or do damage. Not supposed to block the solar panel.

You do me honor by posting all my poetry on FFTR, Glenn, and I’m thrilled that you feel my poetry is worth your time and attention. I absolutely love your comments about my pieces and the depth to which you go in your analysis. Sometimes I think you know more about me than I do, on some levels.

I’m also thrilled that you’ve learned of Rick Mobbs through my blog. He’s just wonderfully multi-talented and so generous with his intellectual property. I did notice what you did with Rick’s painting Stupid War with your “Four Buck Gas” which I posted in its entirety on Poetmeister 4 Poets! It’s excellent! You’ve captured the frustration, angst, and impatience that a lot of people feel about this whole issue, Glenn! I’m looking forward to more of your input to Rick’s work. He certainly does inspire many of us to higher levels of creativity, that’s for sure!

p.s. To answer a previous question you posed; yes, we do have a generator. But wouldn’t you know it, it’s in the shop! It needs maintenance and there’s a problem with it. Mr. I-can-build-machines-but-don’t-piddle-with-them-on-the-homefront hasn’t gotten around to doing it because he’s on the road so much lately. His To-Do list is a mile long! Don’t worry though, my whip’s within reach and if a lash or two doesn’t do the trick, I can always get my fencing gear out to needle him. BwahahahahahaHA! *snort*

  5. Wow, it’s really hot in Jersey right now, but nothing like that.

Hey, Noah, you’re Great! Where abouts in New Jersey do you live? I hope your weather hasn’t been as mean as ours lately. I’ll be coming by soon..thanks so much for stopping in again. Have you done another video lately??

  6. The weather you describe reminds me of June weather of my hometown in southern California- humid, hot, dusty and smoggy. i don’t miss it at all.

Hope your air gets fixed soon and that your part of the world adjusts and rebuilds quickly and with ease. This may be a call to those emergency teams to get organized, trained and better equiped on all levels to deal with future disasters.

i will keep the area in my prayers. Thank God you and yours are okay.

I’m so glad to see you here, Christine! I know I owe you an email – but I can’t find it! You can spank me now. Harder! HARRRDERRRR!! I meant to thank you for your generous invitation to write for your other blog and wanted to let you know that now is not the time because I’m not at my best right now and have so little energy. I have a lot on my plate right now – but if things should change – oh God, for change, for change, for change – I will get back with you, okay?! I hope you understand and will also forgive me for not getting that email back to you. I’m so sorry to have left you hanging like that.

I can see why you don’t miss the ‘June California hometown weather’ if it’s as much of a bitch as ours has been of late. And yes, I believe this last round of lethal storms exposing this area’s unpreparedness is going to unleash the angst bellow for many in this area. I spoke with my congresscritters about it and pointed out how vulnerable we were for days and word can get around to our, ahem, terrortards overseas, and they may just take advantage of our vulnerability during storms in this area! I also pointed out that if a number of tornados stops us in our tracks, what would happen if there’s a major catastrophe that requires emergency response? Instead, this state is more interested in using funds to build their Fusion Center which is a mega-database of personal information on us citizens, and of which, the Dept. of Homeland Security is going to hire a force of spies to tail VA citizens and who-knows-what-the-hell-else. The Electronic Privacy Information Cntr has been investigating this and has found out that it’s a back-door surveillance program that does run-around oversight or accountability. Apparently, these Fusion Centers are being created in all states. Nice, huh? Spread the word.

Rep. Dennis Kucinich (D-OH) just submitted a resolution calling for the president’s impeachment. Yesterday he read his 34 Articles of Impeachment on the House floor that took almost 5 hours. Then there was a second reading by the House clerks last night/early am that took nearly the same time to read. You can read the Articles of Impeachment at . I just wonder if it is merely “for show” or if this thing has legs. Time will tell.

    Well, you probably already know that I have a huge backlog of blogs to visit and I’ll try my darnedest to get by soon, Christine. Be well, my friend! {{{huggs}}}

  7. Hi Janetleigh… *waving* right back to you ;-D

Hope you and your family are all ok (under the circumstances)…
Keep safe and take good care :-)

The dog picture is sooooooooo cute……

Hello, Stacey! *wave* Thanks so much for your well wishes and concern about my plight. I feel like I’m the lead actress in Perils of Pauline, strapped to the railroad tracks with a train barreling down on me. lol I keep thinking, “this, too, shall pass…this, too, shall pass.” I ‘ope things are going well for you at ‘ome as well. I’ll be by soon, promise..;>

  8. glad you are okay.

Thank you, Rick! It’s so nice to come back to all the well-wishes from my cyber friends here. It’s truly humbling. Say, has that ‘little bundle of joy’ arrived yet? Did you see that I posted your Stupid War and Glenn Buttkus’ “Four Buck Gas” on Poetmeister 4 Poets! a few days ago?! It looks great, doesn’t it? I’m so glad Glenn has “discovered” you and your fantastic work, Rick! You deserve all the exposure we can afford you..:) See you soon, too!

  9. Janet,
we had a tornado here a couple years ago – and a snowstorm one week later! So, we feel for you. The storms this ’spring’ have been crazy!!! This is the third day in a row without storms, and I almost don’t know what to do. Other than bully our younger son into mowing the lawn (allergies, not totally lazy). Makes you appreciate the little things – and what’s most important. And what’s convenient!
    David

Good grief, David! Tornado and snowstorm in a little more than a week apart?! Where are you located? I just want to know so I can avoid your state..heh heh..just kidding. I’ve been in a couple of tornados, a few hurricanes and a mega-tremors in CA. I’ll take the tornado. Better chances of not being in its direct path, the others will all get you if you’re in the general area. *shoulder shrug* I’m glad you’re doing okay and I’ll be stopping by soon..:)

  10. Sorry to hear that! I’m glad your family is safe though. Hope you have gotten back your electricty by now.

    Hugs!

Hi Sara!! *wave* Everything’s copestatic electricity-wise with a very short outage after the longer spell. Just need to get the new air conditioner (maybe 2) and the generator fixed..:) Everything o.k. with you?

  11. i understand completely, Janet.
    No worries!

i hope things have improved since you posted this, especially your lack of air conditioning!

Do you think impeachment will occur?
If there were justice… i kind of think McClellan is a rat jumping from a sinking ship. Why not speak up before all the loss of life and our fall in front of the world community?
